Comedian Trevor Noah Gets Slammed By Bengaluru Crowd After His Show Got Cancelled

1 years ago By Movies Desk

Comedian and TV show host Trevor Noah found himself at the center of controversy during his recent visit to India, particularly in Bengaluru. The incident occurred after the cancellation of his Bengaluru show, leaving his Indian fans both disappointed and furious.

Trevor Noah had scheduled performances in Bengaluru on September 27 and 28 as part of his “Off The Record Tour.” However, the shows were abruptly canceled, citing ‘technical issues’ as the reason. This move immediately raised eyebrows and drew criticism from the disappointed ticket holders.

During his subsequent show in Mumbai, Noah allegedly made disparaging remarks about Bengaluru, causing outrage among Indian audiences. He complained about the backstage area, describing it as “full of dogs” and criticized the event room as not being suitable for human beings.

Noah stated, “Now, usually when I go to do a show backstage, what happens is there will be like an entrance that you walk into, and then you’re in the venue and then you emerge into a backstage area before you come and perform. Here (in the Bengaluru venue), we walk through an alley that was full of dogs — half of which were in cages… I’ve never prepared for a show where the backstage area is dogs in cages.”

He further expressed his frustration with the venue, which he described as a “semi-permanent tent” with no screens, and large air-conditioning units outside that blew hot air into the room. Noah mentioned that attempts were made to increase the sound volume, but the room’s design made it challenging, resulting in sound waves bouncing in every direction.

Noah’s controversial comments did not go unnoticed on social media platforms. Disappointed fans took to platforms like X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their dismay. Some criticized him as ‘overrated,’ while others questioned his insult towards the city. One user wrote, “Don’t laugh, you idiots. He’ll go back to where he came from and do the same to your city as well.” Another user preferred Indian comedian Vir Das over Noah, stating, “Give me Vir Das any day.”

Trevor Noah’s visit to India took an unexpected turn as his Bengaluru show was canceled, and his subsequent remarks about the city fueled outrage among Indian audiences. The incident serves as a reminder of the impact public figures can have through their words and actions, especially in the age of social media where reactions can spread rapidly and widely.
