How Much Money BTS Will Make From BIGHIT And HYBE?

1 years ago By Neil Ross

In a thrilling turn of events for fans worldwide, BTS, the global K-Pop sensation, has renewed their contracts with BigHit Music under HYBE for the second time on September 20, 2023. This contract renewal has sent shockwaves through the K-Pop industry, and it comes with an astounding down payment of $15.65 million USD (₩21 billion won) for each of the seven members. In this article, we’ll delve into the financial implications and possible earnings for BTS with this renewed contract.

BTS’s Previous Contracts and Earnings

BTS initially signed a seven-year deal with BigHit Music back in 2013, which was later extended for the first time in 2018. This second contract renewal marks their commitment to continue working together. The exact length of this new contract has not been disclosed, but it’s expected to span several years, possibly including their military service period.

To put their earnings in perspective, in 2020, Forbes reported that the seven members of BTS had collectively earned $50 million USD. This figure skyrocketed to an astonishing $150 million USD (₩200 billion won) just before HYBE’s CEO, Bang Si-hyuk, took the company public in October 2020. While the exact earnings post-IPO have been closely guarded, one can reasonably assume that they have continued to flourish financially.

Military Service and Stability

BTS is set to resume their group activities in 2025, once all seven members have completed their mandatory military service and returned. This military hiatus is anticipated to last until 2025, which aligns with the return of all BTS members from their military duties.

Kim Hye-young, a researcher from Daol Investment & Securities Co. Ltd., emphasized the strategic importance of BTS’s contract renewal for HYBE. With another HYBE group, SEVENTEEN, starting their military enlistment in 2024, BTS’s activities post-2025 will provide stability and strengthen HYBE’s performance. This indicates that the financial outlook for BTS remains promising.

BIGHIT MUSIC’s Generosity: In a heartwarming gesture, alongside the contract renewals, BIGHIT MUSIC donated $750,000 USD (₩1 billion won) in ARMY’s name as a token of gratitude. This philanthropic act showcases the bond between BTS and their dedicated fanbase, known as the ARMY.

Fan Reactions and RM’s Announcement

RM, also known as Kim Namjoon, took to his Instagram story on September 20, 2023, to share the exhilarating news of the contract renewal. Fans around the world rejoiced, expressing their joy on various social media platforms. This announcement solidified the enduring relationship between BTS and their ARMY.

The contract renewal between BTS and BigHit Music under HYBE has not only thrilled fans but also raised intriguing questions about the group’s future earnings. While the exact details remain undisclosed, it is evident that BTS’s financial prosperity is set to continue. With a promising post-military service return in 2025 and the support of their dedicated fanbase, the ARMY, BTS is poised to maintain their status as one of the world’s most influential and financially successful music acts.
