1 years ago By Movies Desk

In a recent incident at a restaurant in the Apgujeong province of Seoul, two well-known personalities, NCT’s Zhong Chenle and Exchange’s Kim Tae Yi, found themselves at the center of a controversy. While dining at this establishment, their pictures were taken by a staff member without their consent and subsequently shared online. This act of privacy invasion alone was enough to raise concerns among fans, but it took a disturbing turn when the same staff member decided to accompany the images with derogatory and racist comments.

The employee In question, using social media, uploaded the photos with captions that left much to be desired in terms of respect and decency. They referred to Chenle in a disrespectful manner, using offensive language. Moreover, the comments didn’t stop at merely criticizing the artists’ appearance; they also made assumptions about Kim Tae Yi’s habits, insinuating that he was a heavy smoker. Such derogatory and invasive behavior rightfully outraged many fans and internet users who came across the posts.

The backlash was swift and fervent. Online communities erupted in anger, demanding accountability from both the restaurant and SM Entertainment, the agency representing Chenle. People were appalled not only by the breach of privacy but also by the racially insensitive remarks made about Chenle, who hails from China and has been a valued member of the South Korean entertainment industry. Many felt that this incident was an affront not just to these two artists but to the principles of respect, tolerance, and inclusivity.

In response to the mounting outrage, the restaurant’s owner issued an apology. They acknowledged the wrongdoing of their staff and expressed deep regret for the offensive comments made about Chenle and Kim Tae Yi. Taking responsibility for the incident, they went a step further by terminating the employment of the staff member involved. Additionally, the owner personally reached out to Chenle to apologize and seek his understanding, recognizing the need for swift action to address the situation.

As of the latest reports, the agencies representing Chenle and Kim Tae Yi have not issued official statements regarding the incident. Nevertheless, this episode serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting privacy, refraining from making derogatory remarks, and promoting cultural sensitivity in all aspects of society, including the world of entertainment. It also highlights the power of social media in holding individuals and establishments accountable for their actions.
